In a small village, there was a busy market. An old lady named Ada sold very sweet berries there. Her nephew, Ben, helped her.
“Hi, Aunt Ada! What berries are we selling today?” Ben asked, smiling.
“Blueberries, and they're very sweet,” Ada replied, giving him one to try.
They sold berries together. Soon, an old man with a big hat came by. His name was Mr. Timms. He had a black pot.
“Hello, Ada and Ben!” he said, putting the pot down.
“What’s that?” Ben asked, looking at the shiny pot.
“It’s a magic pot! It cooks porridge by itself!” Mr. Timms said with a laugh. “But you have to know the special words to make it stop.”
Ada and Ben were amazed. “Can we see it work?” Ada asked.
“Yes!” Mr. Timms said. He told the pot, “Pot, cook porridge!” and it started cooking.
Porridge filled the pot quickly. “Say ‘Stop, pot, that’s enough!’ to make it stop,” Mr. Timms said, and the pot stopped cooking.
Everyone in the village heard about the magic pot. Mr. Timms gave the pot to Ben because he was always helpful.
“Remember the magic words,” Mr. Timms told Ben.
Ben used the pot to make food for everyone. But one busy morning, he forgot to say the stopping words. The pot didn’t stop cooking. Porridge went everywhere!
Porridge covered the streets and went into houses. People laughed and played in it, even though it was messy.
Ada saw the mess. “Ben, the magic words!” she yelled.
“Oh no!” Ben ran to the pot. “Stop, pot, that’s enough!” he shouted, and the pot stopped.
Everyone helped clean up. They were not mad. They were happy for the fun and thanked Ben.
Ben learned to always remember the right words. And he always told new people about the magic pot and how important it is to remember what to say.
