The Wolf’s Broken Promise
00:00 / 01:51

In a big, sunny forest, there was a crane named Charlie. He loved to fish by the river because he was very good at catching fish. His long neck helped him a lot.

One day, a wolf named Wally came near the river. He looked sad and was holding his throat.

“What’s wrong?” Charlie asked from a safe distance.

“I have a bone stuck in my throat,” Wally said with a sad face. “It hurts a lot. Can you help me get it out? I’ll give you something nice if you help me.”

Charlie thought about it. He knew wolves could be tricky, but he also liked helping. “Okay, I’ll help you, but you must promise not to eat me,” Charlie said.

“I promise I won’t eat you. I just need help,” Wally said quickly.

Charlie carefully used his long beak to reach into Wally’s throat and pulled out the bone. “There, it’s out now,” Charlie said, stepping back.

Wally felt better right away. “Thank you, Charlie! I feel much better,” he said, wagging his tail.

Charlie waited a moment. “What about the nice thing you promised?” he asked.

Wally laughed a little. “Well, I think not eating you is a nice thing! Isn’t it?” He started to walk away.

Charlie felt sad and called out, “Isn’t it good to keep promises?”

Wally stopped and thought about it. He turned around and looked at Charlie. “You are right. I promised more than just safety. Let’s share my lunch as a real thank you,” Wally said, feeling sorry.

They sat together and shared Wally’s lunch. Wally learned that it’s important to keep promises and to be thankful. Charlie was happy because he helped someone and made a new friend who learned to be better.

From that day, Wally and Charlie often met by the river. They became good friends and taught everyone in the forest to enjoy little moments and be true friends.

The End.
