"Felix, stop!" squeaked Ravi the Rabbit as he watched Felix the Fox grab the last mango. Felix didn’t listen and kept eating, juice running down his face.
Ravi hopped closer. “You already ate all the apples and berries. Why don’t you leave some for others?”
Felix smirked. “Finders keepers!” he sneered, not even looking up. Every day was the same; Felix roamed the forest, taking whatever he liked, never sharing with the other animals. The squirrels would hide their nuts, and the deer stayed far from him.
One afternoon, Felix spotted something shiny near a bush. He crept closer, his eyes widening at the sight of a big, ripe watermelon. “This will be all mine!” he whispered, licking his lips.
But as he tried to pull the watermelon out of the hole, his paws slipped on the muddy ground. Before he knew it, Felix tumbled headfirst into the hole, the watermelon landing on top of him. He tried to wiggle out, but the mud was too thick.
Ravi, who had been watching from a distance, ran over with Simi the Squirrel and Deeraj the Deer. “Felix, are you stuck?” Simi giggled, her tail flicking with amusement.
Felix struggled, embarrassed. “Help me out, you guys!” he pleaded, trying to sound tough but failing.
Deeraj tilted his head, amused. “Why should we? You never share with us, Felix.”
Felix tried to push the watermelon aside, but it was no use. He sighed. “Okay, okay! I promise I’ll share. Just get me out of here!”
The animals whispered among themselves. They had never seen Felix so helpless. Ravi hopped forward, extending a twig. “Grab on!”
Felix reached for the twig, but his paws were too slippery. He felt panic rising. “I can’t!” he shouted, his voice trembling. “Please, I’m sorry!”
Simi and Deeraj joined in, using sticks and vines to pull Felix out. With one last heave, they yanked him free, and Felix landed on his paws, covered in mud and looking very sorry for himself.
Felix looked at the watermelon, then at his friends. He split it open and handed pieces to everyone. “I should have done this sooner,” he admitted, nibbling on his share.
From that day, Felix learned to share. He still loved to find food, but now, he always made sure there was enough for everyone. The forest felt happier, and Felix realized that sharing wasn’t just nice—it made everything taste sweeter.
Moral:
Greed can trap you, but sharing opens the way to friendship and happiness.
