The Adventure in Space
00:00 / 06:25

“Bhai, I’m telling you, we’re going to get rich and famous. Just wait and watch!” Aditi said, her voice bubbling with excitement. She was fiddling with the controls of their homemade spaceship. Yes, you heard it right — homemade. Not NASA or SpaceX, just two bored teenagers in a small Indian town who had way too much time on their hands.

“Aditi, tu pagal hai! We are literally sitting in a cardboard box with a bunch of wires. You really think this thing is going to fly?” Aryan replied, half-laughing, half-terrified. He was still trying to adjust his seat, which was a plastic chair tied to the floor with string.

Aditi shot him a look. “Bro, don’t jinx it. This is top-level engineering! Have you ever seen a spaceship like this?” She gestured at their DIY creation.

“Yeah, in some bad sci-fi movie,” Aryan muttered, but he was already buckling up.

They’d spent weeks planning this. Their spaceship was made of cardboard, old TV antennas, some random metal parts they found in their garage, and — of course — a ton of duct tape. “It’s the future of space travel,” Aditi had declared confidently. Aryan had serious doubts, but there was no turning back now.

“Hold on tight, Aryan! The countdown begins in 3… 2… 1!” Aditi hit the giant red button.

The spaceship jerked forward, and Aryan let out a scream that echoed through the little room. He quickly shut his mouth, though, because he didn’t want to seem too scared.

“Okay, not bad. We’re actually flying!” Aryan muttered, his eyes wide. Outside the window, he could see the blue sky turning darker as they shot up into space.

“See? Told you! Welcome to the world of space pioneers!” Aditi grinned, clearly pleased with herself.

But then... things got a bit... strange. The spaceship lurched to one side, and a loud beep sounded from one of the panels.

“Aditi, what is that?!” Aryan asked, eyes bulging.

“I dunno! This thing is kinda... untested, yaar,” Aditi said nervously. She quickly pushed some random buttons, hoping for the best. The spaceship suddenly stabilized, but they were no longer in the Earth’s atmosphere.

“Uh... Aditi? Where are we?” Aryan asked, staring out at the screen.

They were surrounded by glowing, multicolored planets. In the distance, there were strange, wobbly-looking spaceships zooming past. It looked like they had accidentally flown straight into an alien galaxy.

“Aditi! Are you trying to get us kidnapped by aliens?!” Aryan said, his voice full of panic.

“Relax, we’re fine. We’re just... exploring,” Aditi said with a grin.

Suddenly, their spaceship was surrounded by two sleek, shiny alien ships. The alien ships were like nothing they had ever seen, with bright neon lights and tentacle-like things hanging out of them. “Are we supposed to talk to them? Should I wave?” Aryan whispered.

“Wave?! Are you serious?” Aditi hissed. “We have to negotiate, like proper astronauts!”

Before they could figure out what to do, one of the alien ships shot a beam toward their spaceship. Everything turned white.

“Oh. My. God. Are we going to die?” Aryan gasped.

A moment later, everything was back to normal. They were floating in space, but now there were... aliens on their ship.

These aliens didn’t look dangerous at all. They were small, squishy, and looked like jellybeans with eyes. The one in front was wearing a tiny space helmet, and it waved at them.

“Uh... Hello?” Aditi said cautiously.

The alien blinked. “Hello! I am Zog, intergalactic tourist and guide. Welcome to the Universal Space Funfair!”

“What?” Aryan and Aditi said in unison.

“Space Funfair. You’re at the greatest space carnival in the galaxy. Free entry, no waiting in lines!” Zog said cheerfully. “Would you like to try our Alien Ferris Wheel? It’s out of this world!”

“Wait... we didn’t sign up for this!” Aditi said, shaking her head. “We were just... trying to go to the moon!”

“Ah, moon is so overrated,” Zog said, floating around them. “You’re in the greatest space amusement park. Why go to the moon when you can ride a giant space squid?”

Aditi looked at Aryan, who was still holding onto his chair like his life depended on it.

“Bhai, I think we should go with the flow,” Aditi said.

“What? Are you crazy?!” Aryan exclaimed, but Aditi was already clicking buttons. The spaceship lurched forward again, this time straight toward a giant alien Ferris wheel that looked like it was made of light and stars.

As they got closer, they realized that this wasn’t just a random amusement park. There were aliens everywhere, laughing, eating neon cotton candy, and riding on space roller coasters.

“This... is insane!” Aryan said, eyes wide.

“Told you. Space is fun!” Aditi grinned.

In the end, Aditi and Aryan had the time of their lives at the alien carnival. They rode the Ferris wheel, got lost in a maze made of glowing asteroids, and even made a few new alien friends who promised to visit Earth someday (though Aditi wasn’t sure if she believed them).

As they finally left, Zog waved them goodbye. “Come back anytime! You haven’t seen the moonwalk dance contest!”

Aditi hit the button, and their spaceship shot back toward Earth.

“Next time, let’s go to the moon for real,” Aryan said with a grin.

“Yeah, next time. But for now, we’ve got a carnival to talk about!” Aditi laughed.

And so, their adventure ended — but who knows what the universe had in store for them next?
